Kcca Fc Defeat Bright Stars To Go Top Of The Table

By Samuel Opio

KCCA FC defeated Bright Stars 2-0 at the StarTimes Stadium to win their third game of the season and go top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

A first half goal from Filbert Obenchan, who headed in from a Mustafa Kizza cross, and a poker from Patrick Kaddu were enough for the Kassasiro Boys to earn their eighth win in ten over the Mwererwe based side.

Skipper, Nelson Ssenkatuka missed a fine opportunity to level for the visitors on the 52-minute mark when Charles Lukwago misjudged his decision to clear the ball – only for Senkatuka to place the ball wide.

It wasn’t the best of days for the Lugazi Home Land College grown goalkeeper whose mistakes were getting more frustrating – another one coming in the 69th minute.

Allan Okello squandered a few opportunities in the penalty area but was able to put up a fine display. But, his day wasn’t any close to the last time out in Arua.

Bright Stars coach, Fred Kajoba did not have an easy feat either as all his busy moments to pass-on instructions (play for the player) did not pay-off.

Substitute Patrick Kaddu was the happiest man on the day after poaching in the second for the hosts in the 83rd minute when he took advantage of a defensive lapse in Bright Stars back line to notch in his first of the season.

Jackson Nunda missed an open opportunity after a moment of confusion when a Bright Stars player recklessly gave away possession – but only sent a low shot inches wide off target was the best from his effort.

Not more than three goals – just the second game with only one side scoring with the first having come on 24 Oct 2014 when KCCA FC won 1-0.

KCCA FC top the standings, at least for now until Vipers and URA make their intentions to command this year’s title chase clear when they play away to SC Villa and Maroons respectively.

Elsewhere, Battling Paidha Black Angels played out a boring barren draw with Tooro United football club at the Green Light stadium Arua.

Express Fc also shared spoils with BUL Fc in an entertaining game. Kirinya Jinja SS concede 3 goals at home against Onduparaka Fc in a dramatic game.
