A Gaaga bus accident claimed at least 20 people on Saturday evening at Kiryandongo as it traveled from Lira to Kampala.
An eye witness who was traveling in another vehicle said about 20 bodies were pulled from the wreckage. “It is unbelievable to see bodies all over the place. We are still pulling people from the wreckage”, he said.
Other sources said many of the dead and injured were students returning to school for their second term.
According to eye witness, the bus hit an oncoming tractor that had no head lights and in the process it swerved off the road and then hit a truck carrying beer.
