Kasese Municipality Woman Member of Parliament Winnie Kiiza has Wednesday August 12, 2020 officially crossed over to Rtd.Gen.Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) party.
Kiiza, who quit FDC a few weeks ago, was officially welcomed to ANT during an event that was officiated over by the party president, who is also the 2020 presidential flag bearer Gen.Muntu.
“I have done all I could to progress the FDC party and our objectives. While our struggle to liberate our country remains the core objective, our methods are fundamentally different and it is important that I partner with those with whom we agree on ideals and means,” Kiiza said in her remarks shortly after being welcomed to ANT by Muntu.
Kiiza joins a number of FDC legislators who have since crossed over to Mugisha’s camp.
Recently, two members of Parliament, who include Gerald Karuhanga (Ntungamo Municipality) and Paul Mwiru (Jinja East) joined Muntu’s ANT.
Karuhanga joined parliament as an independent while Mwiru was voted to the House on the ticket of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
While receiving the two MPs, at the party headquarters on Plot 87, Buganda Road in Kampala Gen Muntu, who was recently picked as the ANT party flag bearer come the 2021 general elections, said that “this is just the beginning” of a long journey ahead.
Shortly thereafter they were joined by Kassiano Wadri, the Arua Municipality MP, who also crossed over from FDC to ANT.
