2021 Elections:Dr.Besigye Officially Quits Presidential Race As POA, Birigwa Face Off For Party Flag

Najjanankumbi, Kampala: The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) stalwart Dr.Kiiza Besigye Kifefe has officially stepped down from the 2021 presidential bid.

Dr. Besigye, who has run against President Museveni in the previous four sets of elections, said this time was not going to compete instead would step a side for others to also try their best as a way of practicing democracy.

While addressing the FDC supporters at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, Besigye said after intensive internal consultations, the party leaders have decided “we look for someone to lead our plan A” which entails running in the elections.

According to Besigye, plan ‘A’, will be use of election to outseat Museveni and free the country from autocratic rule as the leaders prepare the population to fight in plan B.

“For now, just leave the Plan B to me. You try plan A if it fails, me i will come up with my plan B. And am sure that, that one will not leave Museveni in leadership” Dr. Besigye said.

In conclusion, Kizza Besigye urged his supporters not relax and must not forget where they have come from hence calling upon all those yearning for change to liberate this country, to always remember the history he set at his time of fighting for freedom in Uganda.

Meanwhile, Besigye’s declaration has paved a way for Wasswa Birigwa and Patrick Oboi Amuriat who have already picked nomination forms to compete for the party’s presidency and also in the forthcoming general elections.
