Lyantonde: At least seven people have been arrested to help with the investigations into the gruesome murder of a boy who was killed in Lyantonde district a few days back.
Julius Amutuhairwe, 13, who was Primary Six pupil at Kahangire Foundation Primary School, went missing on March 28th. Shortly after his disappearance, the kidnappers started demanding ransom of Shs30m from his parents. When the parents failed to pay the ransom, the kidnappers brutally murdered the boy and later dumped the corpse in a bush, where it was recovered a few days thereafter by residents.
After recovering the body the police kicked off investigations with an aim of capturing the ruthless murderers. Lameck Kigozi, Greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson, said that “Our search led us to the remains of the pupil about three weeks after he was murdered. According to Kigozi, their detectives have been tracking Nasasira until Thursday when they apprehended him from Lyantonde town. Kigozi says that Nasasira confessed to murdering the victim and led detectives to where he dumped his body. Kigozi also added that the police have in custody Joshua Mugisha, the head teacher of Kahangire Foundation Primary School, whom Nasasira claims to have conspired with to kidnap Amutuhairwe. The other suspects are; Georgina Batamuliza, Nazario Baguma, Ramadhan Lubulwa, Gordon Birimumaaso and Charles Ssenkukube, who are being interrogated by police before they arraigned in court to face charges of kidnap and murder.
