Museveni Heaps Praises On Wife On Her Birthday, Thanks Ugandans After Covid Battle

HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has heaped praises on his wife First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni following her support as he battled Covid-19 infection.

On Saturday, Museveni also thanked Ugandans for their prayers which he said led to his recovery.

“Thanks for praying for me when I was fighting with Corona,” he said.

Museveni’s praises for his wife came as she was marking her 75th birthday.

“She was born in 1948, at Bwongyera when her father was a Gombolola chief there. Congratulations, Ginga,” Museveni said. (www.traildusttown.com)

Ginga is Bazukulu’s name for Uganda’s First Lady.

The Head of State said Kataaha helped him raise a wonderful family though he was an absent husband between 1974 and 1986 for 12 years.

“This is a lady helped a frequently absentee husband, to raise a wonderful family that is at present comprised of very responsible parents and wonderful grandchildren,” he said.

“The beneficiary absentee husband of 1974-1986, is yours truly, Yoweri Museveni, member of FRONOSA and the NRA.”

Museveni praised God for protecting his wife.

He noted that while in Sweden between 1983 and 1986, his wife was an active member of the NRM branch there.

Museveni said that even Ugandans know Kataaha has been contributing to the country since 1986.

“I praise the Lord God for her life,” he said.

On Sunday, Museveni announced that he was now Covid-free.

He made his Covid status public on June 7 – his diagnosis was subsequently a subject of widespread debate and speculation across East Africa.

He urged Ugandans to follow his health strategy by avoiding risk factors such as smoking and alcohol, exercising and eating healthy African food.
