Kampala: Sheena Ruparelia, a daughter to City Money magnet Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, who doubles as Honorary Consul of Nepal to Uganda is richer than yesterday courtesy of focus and hard work, drinking from her mentor’s cup.
This is after President Museveni was moved on learning that it’s Sheena Ruparelia who has saved the whole country from shame, when she supervised the construction of the historic multi billion Speke Resort convention Centre which has hosted Speakers’ conference, Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G-77+China summits.
While hosting NAM guests at a state dinner at the convention Centre in Munyonyo, President Museveni revealed that he is happy that a young woman of Sheena’s caliber can ably execute a multi billion project of that magnitude seamlessly without any mistakes.
He (Museveni) thus stretched his hand deep into his Kisozi farm pockets and donated multiple cows to Sheena and urged her to start farming with the Ankole breed she has been donated to. In Ankole culture, donation of cows is a sign of immense gratitude a sign of welcoming you into their home as part of the family.
Dr Sudhir, after winning the contract, handed over its construction to his most trusted blue eyed girl, Sheena Ruparelia who oversaw to completion, very diligently. Infact, Sheena picked her cups and plates from her home and camped at Speke resort Munyonyo for a full year till its completion. “The construction would take place day and night and Sheena was always on ground” our Spy told us last night
But Who Is Sheena Ruparelia?
Born on December 23, 1988, Sheena Ruparelia holds a BSc. Economics and Accountancy from City University, London and has been a Director and one of the trustees at Ruparelia Group since January 2017.
The Ruparelia Group is one of Uganda’s largest business conglomerates with investments in financial services, real estate, education services, hospitality, agriculture media/broadcasting among others.
After completing her Economics and Accounting degree at the City, University of London, Sheena returned to Uganda to join the Group as the Business Development Manager of the former Crane bank Uganda limited until 2016 when the bank closed.
In 2017, she then joined the Group’s real estate development arm Meera Investments as a Director.
She is also involved with the hospitality and property arms managing most of Ruparelia Group’s businesses in town including Munyonyo, Kabira club, Speke hotels among others.
For more than six years, Sheena Ruparelia and her brother Rajiv Ruparelia have spent time under the guidance of their property mogul and billionaire father, Dr Sudhir Ruparelia.
At Meera Investments, one of Kampala’s largest property developer, with over 300 properties, the humble and down to earth Sheena is more involved in project management and some of her most recent projects, include Tagore Living and Bukoto Living and now Speke Resort Convention Centre, Munyonyo.
Sheena is also passionate about helping the less fortunate with special interest in disadvantaged children in rural areas.
Sheena is highly active with the Ruparelia Foundation, the Group’s philanthropic arm, where she is one of the trustees.
