Kampala: The latest national media survey by Market Intelligence Group, a leading research and consulting firm, has ranked Next Broadcasting Services (NBS TV) as Uganda’s favourite English television station for the first quarter of the year, surpassing its competitors in the market.
Conducted in March 2024, the research covers media consumption trends from January to April 2024 providing insights into the consumption of radio, television, print, and digital media across all districts of Uganda, segmented into sub-regions and the Greater Kampala Metropolitan area.
The report, released on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Fairway Hotel in Kampala, shows NBS leading with a 44% preference rate, followed by NTV at 35% and Bukedde at 19%.

The report is intended for media buyers, media houses, policymakers, academics, and stakeholders in both the private and public sectors who need data to understand current media consumption trends. The research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the media landscape, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions.
During the release, Dr. Isabirye emphasized the importance of understanding media consumption trends for stakeholders to stay ahead in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape.
“We believe that understanding media consumption trends is crucial for various
stakeholders to stay ahead of the curve in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape,” he said.
Market Intelligence Group, established in 2011, specializes in research, audience measurement, market analysis, socio-cultural, economic, and political research, as well as business and project development feasibility studies, M&E, and business planning and development.
Brief Background About NBS TV
The story of Next Media Services started with the founding of NBS Television with broadcasts commencing on June 16, 2008, when it was registered and got its license, owning just one transmitter and headquartered at PAN AFRICAN House next to Kampala Kasino, and later relocated to Media Plaza in Kamwokya, a Kampala Suburb where they later shifted from to Next Media Park, Plot 13, Summit View Road, Naguru.

NBS also has a series of business, movies, sports, youth and entertainment shows.
