Kampala: Following our story last week, Dott Services Ltd has finally agreed to meet with the family of Fort Portal-based businessman John Tinka Kaguma Adyeeri, who had threatened legal action against the company after their car knocked dead his son, Patrick Mugume.
After several engagements, now we can confirm that the situation has seen progress and both parties have agreed to resolve the matter out of court by signing a consent agreement. A harmonization meeting is scheduled for Thursday this week, during which Tinka has been asked to provide proof that he’s the biological father.

In our previous article, we reported that 34-year-old Mugume was killed on January 6, 2023, in Mukono by a Dott Services driver, identified as Kasadha Haggai. Initially, the company refused to compensate the family as agreed leaving Tinka in distress and frustration.
Dott Services had committed to paying UGX 50 million to support the education of Mugume’s two young children, aged 2 and 3, as well as to provide for their mothers and fulfil other responsibilities Mugume had shouldered before his demise but the promises have not been fulfilled since then.
However, when contacted for a comment on the matter, one of the top managers at Dott services, Mr Kazoora pledged to follow up the matter and ensure it’s handled to its logical conclusion.
“The family lawyer was supposed to sign a consent agreement with our lawyer, which hasn’t yet happened. Secondly, the father was asked for some proof paperwork to prove that he’s the biological father to the late, which hasn’t been submitted, I think there’s a document he’s supposed to get from NIRA, Dott Services on the issues of humanity has never lacked empathy, we always prioritize such issues and equity. There might be a delay but surely it will solved, Kazoora told our reporter on Friday.
