Kampala: The Uganda Police Force spokesperson CP Fred Enanga has said that the police are still looking for more evidence to pin a witchdoctor who was recently arrested over human sacrifice allegations in Mityana district.
Enanga made the remarks while addressing the media on Monday at police headquarters in Naguru. A few days ago police in Mityana arrested a witchdoctor identified as Fred Luyombya,70, for suspected human sacrifice activities, after finding human remains in his shrine.While addressing the media, Enanga noted that the scene of crime was visited by a team of police detectives led by District CID Officer Mityana, Regional Police Surgeon, Regional Scene of Crime Officer, Regional Fire Officer in charge homicide, in the presence of the RDC Mityana and other Local leaders. According to the press statement the crime scene was cordoned off and a search conducted. Exhibits of human skulls four (04) in number, femur bones, Ribs and parts of leg bones were recovered from the toilet and shrines. All exhibits were conveyed to Mityana Police Station exhibits stores pending labeling, marking and further conveyance to Mityana Hospital mortuary, from where they will be taken to Government Analytical Laboratories for DNA and other analysis so that they can scientifically be proven to be Human body bones.
Nine suspects were arrested to assist with the investigations and to gather more evidence to determine the motive of the sacrifice. The arrested suspects include Mwebe Godfrey, Kabali Lawrence, Kalanzi Joram , Nalwoga Carol , Nakakawa Farida, Namenya Florence, Nakasida Hamida, Nasikombya Topista, Kabonge Lawrence, Kayiwa Josephati a juvenile. They are currently detained at Mityana police station on charges of human sacrifice, although the police contend that more evidence is needed to pin the culrpits.
