Kampala: All is not well in the Miss Curvy camp after our Spies learning that the organisers of the pageant are wallowing in untold debts.
Our Spies reveal that Anne Mungoma, who was the main organiser of the first ever Miss Curvy Uganda beauty pageant, is having sleepless nights, because service providers are demanding for their dime. Mungoma and others held the Miss Curvy pageant at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala on April 26th, 2019, during which Belindah Nansasai was crowned the winner. Among the prizes Nansasi won as Miss Curvy queen was a Jeep Cherokee. However, we have since established that the Jeep, which is a DMC, had been hired from a city car dealer to be used for showbiz at the event and that Nansasai didn’t actually win it.
Worse still is that Mungoma and her fellow organisers have since then failed to pay the money they promised the Car Dealer for hiring the vehicle and he has since taken over its possession, on top of threatening to sue them for breach of contract. As if that is not enough, we are told that other companies that provided services like the public address system, venue decorators, ushers, drinks, snacks, etc are also baying for Mungoma’s neck, vowing to act viciously if their monies aren’t paid As Soon As Possible (ASAP). As you read this, Spies reveal that Mungoma is playing hide and seek with the creditors, who are constantly bombarding her with calls demanding for her dime. It should be recalled that State Minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda was one of the main brains behind the Miss Curvy pageant and he reasoned that it could help to promote Uganda’s tourism. However, when he was contacted for a comment about the matter, Kiwanda said that “Neither the ministry of tourism nor the Tourism Board was directly involved in organizing the event. Our job was to launch it. The organisation was done by Ms. Mungoma and others. So their shortcomings or those of the event shouldn’t be blamed on us as the Ministry of Tourism or Uganda Tourism Board.”
