By Spy Uganda

On Tuesday the State House Anti Corruption Unit arraigned Mwesige Geofrey Kiiza, aka Pastor Jeff, before the Kira Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wakiso District on charges of attempting to evict a bonafide occupant without an eviction order, destroying growing plants, and theft.

He was remanded until 03/10/2024.

In August 2024, the accused, along with others still at large, attempted to illegally evict the family of the late Abiyasaali Kasozi, the rightful occupants of their ancestral land in Kireka without an eviction order, they cut down eucalyptus trees that the family had nurtured on the land for over 40 years.

“Despite clear orders from the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) to halt the eviction, the Pastor, acting with impunity, continued to cut down the trees and sell them. His actions directly violate H. E the President’s directives to landlords regarding the rights of Bibanja holders,” says the Unit.

SH-ACU was established under Article 99(4) of the constitution of Uganda, which gives the President executive powers to either directly or indirectly perform his duties or through officers subordinate to him.

Launched on 10th December 2018, SH-ACU coordinates with all constitutionally mandated agencies to ensure a corruption-free country.
