Salam TV Strengthens Partnership With TiKA To Elevate Journalism Standards In Uganda

Kampala: In a continued effort to bolster journalistic capacity and elevate media standards in Uganda, Salam TV’s Programs Manager, Umar Busuulwa, visited the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA) offices in Kampala on Monday.

This visit was aimed at expressing gratitude for TiKA’s support in facilitating his participation in
the prestigious 26th Term War Journalism training program, held in Ankara, Turkey, last month.

The training program, organized by Anadolu Ajansı, provided participants with essential skills for reporting effectively and safely in conflict zones.

Umar Busuulwa’s participation in the program is part of Salam TV’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the professionalism and expertise of its team members, ensuring the delivery of high- quality journalism to its audiences.

During the meeting, Mr. Murat Cetin, TiKA’s Coordinator in Uganda, reaffirmed TiKA’s dedication to supporting Uganda’s development across critical sectors, such as education, healthcare, and capacity building.

In particular, Mr. Cetin highlighted the agency’s focus on advancing media professionalism in Uganda by offering training opportunities for journalists.

“Salam TV’s partnership with TiKA is essential for promoting quality journalism and building capacity in Uganda,” remarked Mr. Cetin. “We are eager to continue supporting Salam TV through additional training opportunities in Turkey, empowering its staff to excel in their field.”

Mr. Cetin also commended Umar Busuulwa for his exceptional representation of Salam TV during the War Journalism training, acknowledging his professionalism and commitment to the field.

”Umar’s participation has further strengthened the relationship between TiKA and Salam TV, and we look forward to more collaborative efforts in the future” he added.

In response, Umar Busuulwa expressed heartfelt appreciation for TiKA’s support, emphasizing the importance of this partnership for the growth of Salam TV’s Journalism capacity.
