In a dramatic turn of events that has captivated Uganda’s music and entertainment scene, celebrated musician Alien Skin found himself embroiled in legal troubles that led to his arrest a few days ago.
Alien real name Musician Patrick Mulwana, and his bodyguard, Julius Mugabi, today managed to secure a bail by the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s court. The two are accused of committing grievous harm against three staff members at Nsambya Hospital.
Chief Magistrate Esther Adikini granted the duo bail based on the presumption of innocence. She cited that they have provided substantial sureties and have fixed places of abode. However, Adikini imposed conditions, including a cash bail of Shs1 million for each of the accused and a non-cash bond of Shs5 million for each of their sureties.
Mulwana is separately accused of robbing a one Salim Mubiru of his iPhone 15 valued at Shs3.5 million, Shs480,000 cash, and a wallet containing a national ID. He has also been granted a cash bail of Shs1 million, while his sureties have been bonded with a non-cash bond of Shs3 million. As Alien was still rocked up in the dock thinking of where to get this bail cash, he got a heartwarming message of generosity and support from businessman and philanthropist Dr. Hamis Kiggundu.
Upon learning about Alien Skin’s predicament, Dr. Kiggundu wasted no time stepping in to offer assistance. Not only did he pay the full amount required by the court, but he also provided moral support to the embattled musician.
Sources close to the incident revealed that he personally ensured that all legal and financial requirements were met, facilitating Alien Skin’s release. This act of kindness sparked widespread admiration, with many praising Dr. Kiggundu for his compassion and willingness to use his resources to support others in times of need.
Alien Skin’s release was met with jubilation by his fans, who had rallied for his freedom through social media campaigns and public demonstrations. Upon his release, the artist expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Kiggundu, describing him as a “true lifesaver” and vowing to use the second chance afforded to him to grow both personally and professionally.
