Entebbe: The Uganda Police Force has acquired  a swanky jet, which valuers have estimated to have cost the Force at least Shs28,196,250,000 (Twenty eight billion, one hundred and ninety six million, two hundred-fifty thousand shillings).
The amount quoted is the current world market price for the Police’s new jet which, minus taxes. The superb Hi-Tech jet was unveiled  on Wednesday at Entebbe International Airport.
The 9 seater, P180 Avanti Evo which is a 2019 model, was manufactured by an Italian company, Piaggio Aerospace. The jet was inspected by police officers led by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Brig. Gen. Sabiiti Mzee, Chief Police Commissar Assan Kasingye, among others. However, the police are yet to issue a statement about why they purchased the plane and how it shall improve service delivery in the Force.
However, our Sources within the Force reveal that the  police aim at using the jet to intensify aerial patrols across the country so as to quell demonstrations, especially ahead of the 2021 general election.
