Africa’s real estate market has generated some of the continent’s wealthiest businessmen. These visionary entrepreneurs amassed significant money and influence through their real estate endeavors.
These individuals have left an unmistakable effect on the real estate world, moulding skylines and transforming neighbourhoods, from exquisite residential complexes to huge commercial enterprises. In this article, Spy Uganda delves into the lives of these exceptional people and the important initiatives that drove them to the peak of achievement.
1. Sudhir Ruparelia – Uganda
Sudhir Ruparelia is a real estate tycoon from Uganda. He is the first East African to appear on Forbes’ list of the world’s wealthiest people, and he is the owner of the Ruparelia Group, one of Uganda’s major businesses. Ruparelia, Uganda’s largest property owner, is recognized for its luxurious hotels, housing complexes, and posh resorts.
His company owns over 200 commercial properties. Ruparelia controls Speke Group, the holding company for his premier hospitality assets, and Crane Management Services, which provides real estate management, marketing, and consultation services to the hundreds of hotels he owns. Premier Roses Limited, Goldstar Insurance Company Limited, Kampala International School, Sanyu FM 88.2, Vcon Construction Uganda Limited, and others are among his other businesses.
2. Sijibomi Ogundele – Nigeria
Sijibomi is a Nigerian real estate tycoon who is redefining the luxury sector. Sijibomi is the Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Construction, which has a current portfolio of about $450 million. Speaking about his company, Sijibomi said, “We studied projects from France to Italy, Dubai to New York and we decided to beat the best. Our vision for the next 10 years is to remarkably rebuild and turn Nigeria into a world-class country when it comes to luxury edifices.”
His firm is constructing a Luxury Residential Tower in Abuja. The skyscraper is said to be the tallest residential building in the North. Sujimoto Diamond City (SDC), a 38,000m2 development in the center of Victoria Island, a world-class 6-in-1 Mall in the heart of Ikoyi, and the Sujimoto Dubai Project are among the other projects.
3. Samih Sawiris – Egypt
Orascom Development Holding is led by Egyptian billionaire Samih Sawiris, one of Africa’s real estate moguls. Samih Sawiris, the youngest son of Egyptian construction billionaire Onsi Sawiris, specializes in resort development. Sawiris has established breathtaking tourism sites in Egypt, Montenegro, Switzerland, and other African countries.
Samih, who has a net worth of $1.1 billion, owns approximately 10% of his father’s construction company, OCI. El Gouna, a private village developed along Egypt’s Red Sea beachfront, is his company’s showpiece project. Other projects attracting both local and foreign investors include high-end hotels, luxury residential buildings, and integrated resorts.
4. Anas Sefrioui – Morocco
Anas Sefrioui is the CEO of publicly traded homebuilder Douja Promotion Groupe Addoha. Groupe Addoha’s real estate company is focused on creating low-cost housing for Moroccans. Sefrioui, who has a net worth of more than $1.6 billion, has relished securing government contracts to create low-cost housing in Morocco.
In the face of government cuts, Sefrioui announced plans to grow across Africa. At the age of 16, the African billionaire stepped out of school to join the family business. He established his real estate enterprise at the age of 31 after investing his savings from the family business. His company is now Morocco’s largest property developer and operator, with real estate programs and investments all throughout the nation.
5. Miloud Chaabi & Family – Morocco
Miloud Chaabi, creator of Ynna Holding and its property business, Chaabi Lil Iskane, was also the wealthiest man in Morocco at the time of his death. His company builds real estate and runs hotels and stores.
Chaabi, who oversees a massive real estate program of over 50,000 unique properties in several Moroccan towns, is well-known for his uncompromising position against alcohol, which is prohibited in both his hotel chain and supermarkets.He also oversaw the Miloud Chaâbi Foundation, one of Morocco’s major charitable organizations.
