Bajjo was  charged with incitement of violence against the person of President Yoweri Museveni due to his political opinion. Bajjo, who was abducted by armed uniformed men on Saturday afternoon, has  been under interrogation at the Special Investigations Unit  (SIU) since then until he was produced in Buganda Road court at about mid-day. Court remanded him to Luzira prison for lack of a Luganda interpreter for the video on which police based to arrest him. Bajjo, who appeared before Grade one magistrate Stellah Maris Amabilisi, was also charged with offensive communication in which prosecution states that with an intention to disturb the peace and privacy of president Museveni, without any legitimate purpose, recorded a video using his mobile phone containing messages threatening to overthrow the government of Uganda before the year 2021.

According to the charges, Bajjo allegedly incited the public to do an act of violence against the President in this month of June while at various places within Masaka , Ibanda, Mbarara and Kampala districts. Bajjo pleaded not guilty  first offense but was not allowed to take plea on the charge of offensive communication in order to allow court avail him with a Luganda interpreter to read the charge to for him after he first pleaded guilty. The plea of guilty sparked off untold panic among members of the gallery until his lawyer Elias Lukwago asked court to re-read the charges in a better Luganda version.

“Your worship my client does not understand English, we pray that court gets him a Luganda interpreter who will read the charge sheet for him,” Lukwago told court. The magistrate stood over the case for ten minutes to look for an interpreter whom she unfortunately failed to get, hence deciding to send Bajjo on remand for a week.  The promoter will return back to court on June 25, 2019 for another mentioning of his case. However had court accepted Bajjo’s guilty plea, he would be liable for imprisonment for not more than 7 years.
