Bushenyi: West Ankole diocese Rt. Rev.Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni is to reinstate his servant Rev.Canon Komunda to the church office, after the latter spending months long out of office being investigated by police over homosexual allegations.
Can. Komunda was accused of allegedly sodomizing his Shamba boy about six months ago and was arrested by Bushenyi police, which has been carrying out investigations and later cleared him after failing to find evidence to pin him.
Komunda stepped down and vacated his office to allow investigations go on smoothly and now he is set to resume his office.West Ankole diocesan Secretary Rev. Can. Arthur Atwiine confirmed the news saying that “Rev. Komunda, who was accused of homosexuality, would soon resume his work of priesthood and serve God’s sheep like he was doing before.”
He added that “Komunda had just been waiting for clearance from Bishop Twinomujuni to resume his duties as parish priest, because police had cleared him and for sure the man of God was found innocent.”By the time Komunda was interdicted, he was serving at one of the parishes in Kyeizooba Archdeaconry as parish priest. In relation to that, two weeks back, Rt. Rev. Bishop Twinomujuni suspended one of his priests identified as Rev. Wellen Kamusiime for alleged sexual immorality, although the diocesan secretary refused to talk about the issue when contacted.
