St.Leo’s College Student Dies In Deadly Fight At King Oyo’s 24th Coronation

Police in Fort Portal is investigating circumstances under which a student of St. Leo’s College Kyegobe died allegedly at Omukama Oyo’s 24th Coronation (Empango) on Thursday reportedly due to severe beating.

Birungi Herbert, in senior Five reportedly lost his life under mysterious circumstances because, whereas one source told this reporter that King Oyo’s security manning his coronations event pounced on his and clobbered his with a batoon on the head, another source said he died from a fight with yet to be identified show goers at night.

“Oyo’s security at the palace beat up this young boy to death with a batoon,but now they’re trying to confuse public. This was really a young boy, how can you clobber him on the head like a thief?”, Joram Bintamanya,one the district leaders told this reporter via phone when contacted for a comment.

However, the police in the area said they’re investigating the matter to establish what exactly happened before they comment.

Herbert’s body was later taken by the police to Fort Portal hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations continue.

The administration of St. Leo’s Kyegobe is yet to issue a statement about Birungi’s unfortunate demise.
