Drama As FDC Candidate Chickens Out Of Kaboong By-election; Party Demands Shs200m From E.C

Kaboong: Immense drama has engulfed the Kaboong Woman Member of Parliament By-election campaigns, after Judith Adyaka Nalibe, a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate decided to pull out of the race.

Nalibe shocked her supporters and several FDC stalwarts  over the weekend when she announced that she had decided to quit the race, citing security and personal reasons.

However, FDC stalwarts have insisted that Nalibe cannot just quit the race, because the Party invested a lot of finances in her nomination and campaigns.

However,  Nalibe’s withdrawal from the race leaves National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Christine Tubo Nakwang to contest unopposed, since there were only two contenders in the race.

Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the Budadiri West legislator warned the Electoral Commission (EC) not to declare the NRM candidate as winner  or else the FDC will demand  Shs200m as compensation from the EC.

Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the Kira Municipality MP and FDC spokesperson, advised the EC to cancel the entire process and conduct fresh nominations for candidates or else they will face consequences of their actions.

Kaboong Woman MP seat fell vacant  after the former legislator Rose Lilly Akello decided to abdicate her seat and instead represent the newly created Karenga district.
