Kampala: Untold shock gripped our Spy who visited Kyambogo University this week and discovered that students attend lectures while seated on the dirty floor of their classes.
It is not yet clear whether this is a case of congestion leading to excess numbers of students compared to the number of chairs in a lecture room, or the University just lacks enough furniture.
However, our Spy discovered that almost every department had students attending lectures either while standing or sitting on the dirty floor.
Worst affected is the literature class, where majority of the students were seated on the floor. The class of 150 students had 60 seats meaning over 90 students have lectures either standing or siting on the floor.
A lecturer at the University who preferred anonymity told our Spies that; “We are used, I have personally moved to offices about this matter but all in vain. If we have endured this for the past two years, why not these few months left?”
However, the administration of Kyambogo university is yet to issue a statement about this impasse, although efforts to get a comment from the institution’s spokesperson were still futile by the time our Spies filed this story.
