Kampala: Shock gripped people in Banda, along Jinja Road on Sunday morning after a private security guard shot dead a said to be an employee of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) who had driven to a hostel to pick his girlfriend.
An eyewitness at the scene told our Spy that “The man was shot dead by a security guard when he had gone to pick up a lady residing at Kabojja hostel in Banda.”
The deceased has since been identified as Doribert Atwesigye, 27.
We have learnt that his body is to be buried in Rwenjeru, Mbarara district today in the afternoon.
It is however not yet clear what sparked off the fracas between Atwesigye and the guard which led to his shooting.
Shortly after the shooting police arrived at the scene and took the body to Mulago based Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) for postmortem, before it was handed over to the relatives.
The police are yet to release a statement about the shooting and whether they have since arrested the killer guard or not.
This however comes a few months after another person identified as Arnold Mugisha Ainebyoona, was shot dead by a guard at Quality Supermarket in Naalya
