Kampala: The Kampala Metropolitan Police detectives  have mounted a hunt for a young boy who poured acid liquid on a city wealthy businessman a few days ago, leaving him maimed.

The acid attack victim has been identified as Shafik Agaba, who operates several businesses in Kampala and surrounding areas.

He was attacked on Sunday night at one of his shops in Kyebando along Gayaza Road by a yet to be identified boy who pretended to be his customer, but later as they were bargaining, he pulled out a glass jar and poured acid in his face.

While addressing the media on Monday, Police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga revealed to Spy Uganda that police have started hunting for the boy who was involved in the gruesome attack.

“We are calling upon the public to avail police with information about this juvenile, or to report him to any nearby police so that we can have him apprehended to help us with the ongoing investigations,” Enanga said.

Enanga added “After the boy poured acid on Agaba he yelled for help and by the time people gathered to help him, the attacker had already run into hiding, leaving behind his liquid jar.’’

It is also reported that police detectives have started investigating Agaba’s estranged wife who used to send him some threatening messages.

Agaba is currently admitted at Naguru hospital in critical condition as Kira Road detectives are hunting for the assailant.
