Anti-Corruption Court Grants Total Uganda Employees On Theft Charges Bail

The Anti Corruption court has Wednesday afternoon granted bail to three Total Uganda Limited employees who are facing charges of stealing company property.


The trio includes; Moses Sebalu, a senior accountant, Belinda Nakasi, a taxation officer and Priscilla Nansikombi, who are accused of allegedly stealing Shs28.7Bn from the company


They were granted a cash bail of Shs20M each and sureties non-cash bond of Shs800m by Grade One Magistrate Pamela Lamunu, who also ordered them to deposit their passports and land titles with court.


The trio is charged together with two businessmen who include Hemal Kotech and Innocent Tugume and according to prosecution, it is alleged that the businessmen received from the Total officials stolen property such as lubricant, Diesel, and petrol worth Shs28.7Bn and thereafter the suspects posted fictitious payment entries into the computer network of Total, so as to show that the money had been paid by the businessmen into the company’s bank account which wasn’t true.

They were later investigated and arrested after company auditors discovered the anomaly in their transactions. The matter has been adjourned to 12th/12/2019
