A body of a man has been retrieved by police from Nakivubo Channel between Electoral Commission offices and Sixth Street, Industrial Area in Kampala.
The body that seems to have been washed down the channel by storm water, from an unknown place, got stuck in rocks and rubbish.
Bodaboda riders who operate nearby saw the strange object in the channel and their critical gazes attracted the attention of other pedestrians who stopped to catch a glimpse.
Some onlookers predicted that the body had spent several days in the trench and was exposed by the storm water after the evening downpour.
This is not the first time a body has been found at the same spot. Police last year retrieved a body of an unidentified man who had been swept by floods.
Last year, five people drowned in various parts of Kampala slums after heavy rains in a single afternoon. Their bodies were picked in Kansanvu and Namuwongo swamps.
