Bobi Wine Calls Upon Gov’t To Foot Presidential Advisor Tamale Mirundi’s Medical Bill

Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the leader of the People Power pressure group, this afternoon visited presidential advisor on Media Affairs Joseph Tamale Mirundi, at Kisubi Hospital, and urged government to come to his rescue

Tamale is currently bedridden at Kisubi Hospital, where he was rushed on Friday after he developed complications in his throat.

Contrary to earlier reports which indicated they Tamale had been rushed to a hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, after he refused treatment from any hospital in Uganda, Bobi Wine confirmed to the nation that Tamale is still in Uganda by writing thus on social media;

“This afternoon, I paid a visit to a distinguished citizen of Uganda, former Presidential Press Secretary Joseph Tamale Mirundi. He is admitted at Kisubi Hospital, in a very serious but stable state of health. Thankfully, his caretakers indicated that he has made some improvement. “

He added that “It is definitely very painful seeing a man who has given so much service to this government and President Museveni in such a state, and yet he has to meet very expensive bills in a private health facility! The government he worked so hard for, having failed to set up proper public health facilities is not even keen on sending him for specialised treatment at such a critical time.

Perhaps this is because he now disagrees with them every so often! We have seen how they treat those who are in favour with them; – a simple ailment and they are on the next plane for treatment in countries which have their act together. Please disregard the rumour that circulated earlier that he was airlifted to Kenya.

As I call upon all of us to send him prayers; and as we demand for a better healthcare system for every citizen, I also challenge the government not to watch on as a senior citizen like Tamale faces a critical health condition.
It is fair and expedient that he gets access to specialised medical diagnosis and treatment.”

Tamale is one of the most most vocal political commentators in Uganda, who has talk shows on several local TV and radio stations and has written various books, including his latest titled ‘Abanyampi!’
