Jailed Kassiano Wadri, the FDC leaning Independent candidate has been declared winner of the Arua Municipality by-elections with 6,528 votes representing 38% of the vote!
NRM’s Nusura Tiperu came second with 4,763 (27%) followed by Robert Ejiku (Independent) with 2,703 (15%). Bruce Musema of the FDC came fourth with 1,372 (4%). (https://www.traildusttown.com)
Due to the heavy deployment of the security forces, many business people closed their shops by 3pm, while others opted not to open at all.
The municipality has about 65 polling stations with about 46,000 voters.
At some polling stations in Oli B Cell, a group of youths jubilated in front of the soldiers and policemen after Wadri won there.
Wadri and his chief campaigner Hon.Ssentamu Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine were still detained by the time we went to press. They are being of stoning presidential convoy car and shuttering its behind rear glass.
