Mr Joseph N. Biribonwa, who is the Vice Chairperson of Victoria University Council, has landed in things, after being appointed by president Yoweri Museveni and approved by Cabinet as the new Chairperson of the National Identification and Registration Authority(NIRA) Board.
Biribonwa, who is a former Deputy Chairperson of the Uganda Electoral Commission and is the Chairperson National Initiative for Civic Education in Uganda (NICE-Uganda), got the approval for the next three years.
He is deputized by former Kalangala Woman Member of Parliament Ruth Nvumetta L.M.Kavuma.
Biribonwa is a seasoned expert in democracy and governance, management and administration, finance and corporate governance, with over forty (40) years of professional experience.
Other members on the committee are Dr Betty Kivumbi Nannyonga, Maj. Gen. Apollo Kasita-Gowa (Representative of the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control),
James Saaka (Representative of NITA (U), Bemanya Twebaze ( Representative of the Uganda Registration Services Bureau), Dr Paul Kintu ( Representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) and Dr Chris Ndatira Mukiza (Representative of Uganda Bureau of Statistics).
