Sheema: Boda-boda riders in Sheema municipality want government to recognise Police officers at  Kabwohe  Police Station as heroes, for fighting and arresting  thugs that were stealing their motorcycles and killing them.

The cyclists made the revelation during a meeting held at Sheema Stadium, at which they also elected boda-boda leaders.

While giving his speech, the newly elected chairperson  Charles Kasapuri, asked his fellow boda-boda riders to thank police for curbing the theft of their motorcycles and reducing the rampant killing of boda-boda riders.

Amidst the Kasapuri’s speech, all boda-boda riders stood up singing the names of Sheema district police Commander SP Scovia Birungi and Sheema Central police station  CID  Charles Tukahirwa, who they said  have done a great job at  reducing murders in Sheema district.

It should be remembered that from March to July 2019, over 10 riders were murdered and more than 20 motorcycles were stolen by thugs from Sheena district.

However , the police arrested several suspects until on  July 27, 2019 when they netted four men who used to sponsor the stealing of motorcycles in Sheema .

Since they arrested the four who include; Benywanira Christopher aka Mark Brown 29 years, from Kiruhura district, who was their sales manager,  Ssenyonjo Jordan, 26 years, from Matete, Ssembabule, a dealer in spare parts and old motorcycles , Matovu Abbas 28 from Makindye  and Amutuhaire Jordan, 27, from Lyantonde , peace returned  to Sheema, at least up to November 2019 when the vice resumed.

Still on January 27,  2020 Sheema central  police station  arrested a family of four [mother ,son, daughter and daughter-in-law] who are suspected to be behind theft of motorcycles.

The In-charge  CID at Kabwohe police Tuakahiirwa, said that Beinomugisha Govin has already told police how they steal motorcycles,  where they sell them, plus his gang of three other thieves who include Kakuba Dennis, Atwiine Charles and Rushongora Mureju who are still at large.

It is because of the police’s efforts  above  that  boda-boda riders want government to recognize DPC Sheema district SP Birungi  and CID Tukahirwa as heroes for saving their lives.
