Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is the Presidential Adviser on Special Operations, has tasked the Uganda Police to explain why they failed to protect musician Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool from being attacked with bottles during singer Cinderella Sanyu aka Cindy’s Boom Concert.
This website reported how revellers pelted Bebe Cool with bottles full of urine as he performed at Cindy’s concert which was held at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
It was thereafter alleged that the revellers who threw bottles at Bebe Cool were People Power supporters, who wanted him off stage because he is a member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and one of president Yoweri Museveni’s advisors.
However,
Gen. Muhoozi is so annoyed with the police and bouncers who were at the concert
because of their failure to protect Bebe Cool from being attacked with bottles.
Gen. Muhoozi expressed his anger at the police publicly on Monday morning in a tweet in which he ranted thus; “How could @PoliceUg and the bouncers at Cindy’s Concert allow a few hooligans to hurl bottles at one of Uganda’s greatest artists?? The same hooligans beat up women (on Women’s Day) for simply loving @KagutaMuseveni and @BebeCoolUG. We expect a lot better next time from @PoliceUg.”
But it should be noted that several musicians who subscribe to the NRM or work as President Museveni’s mobilisers have been consistently attacked by revellers at music concerts, who throw bottles at them.
Although this was the second times for Bebe Cool to be attacked with bottles, other artistes who include Catherine Kusasira, Big Eye and Full Figure have also been attacked by revellers with bottles because of being Museveni and NRM supporters.
However,
at the time of filing this story the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth
Ochola, police spokesperson Patrick Onyango and the entire Uganda Police media
department were yet to issue a statement about Gen. Muhoozi’s remarks and the
Bebe Cool attack. (Tramadol online)
