Sheema: The director of Hilltop Secondary School-Kiteete together with his teachers have been put on spotlight after mercilessly torturing Desire Asasira, a Senior Six (S6) student for allegedly skipping morning preps.

One of the student who spoke to us on condition of anonymity said “On Thursday when we were in for our evening preps, the school director Mr. Hillary Ayebare called Asasira from class to the staffroom, after about 4o minutes we heard her crying for help while being tortured, after 15 minutes we saw a group of teachers fanning her outside the staffroom after she fainted,”

He added that teachers continued torturing her after she regained consciousness.

According to students, the tortured girl escaped from the teachers and ran into a water pond where she wanted to end her life but was rescued by the school guard.

It’s alleged that the angry students attacked teachers who later escaped from school forcing students to carry out a strike vandalizing properties like windows, computers etc.

The victim was later taken to Mushanga health Centre III for treatment.

According to Asasira, the School director, the headteacher and the school matron all ganged up to torture her.

She added that she is not the only one who was tortured that day but the others got fair punishment.

““The teachers used sticks, slaps and blows for punishing me yet all my collegues got a fair punishment so I wanted to end my life that’s why I jumped into that water pond,” she said with tears in her eyes.

Her mother, Debrah Mujuni told us that she warned the school about her daughter’s allergy but the school ignored it and started waking her up very early in the morning for morning preps.

Our efforts to get a comment from the school director were all futile since the school was not ready to listen to any question.
