The managing of Watoto Church Uganda has revealed that the 14 of their Choir members tested positive with Coronavirus and are currently undergoing medical attention.
Although during his Tuesday night national address President Yoweri Museveni had announced that only 11 Watoto Choir Members had tested positive with Coronavirus, statements from Watoto released by Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo, the Associate Team Leader, indicates that actually the Coronavirus cases are 14.
The statement, dated March 31, 2020, reads verbatim thus;
Two weeks ago, two of our Watoto Children’s Choirs returned from Canada and the UK, following the Global COVID-19 pandemic.The two teams are comprised of 30 children and 12 adults.
On 27 March 2020, one of our adult chaperones from the choir returning from UK tested positive for the Coronavirus after displaying mild symptoms. He was immediately isolated from the rest of the team.
Upon further testing, 3 more adults and one child on the same choir tested positive.
Following the procedure, these individuals were immediately isolated from the group and taken for treatment. Other tests were also done for the remaining choir members.
On 31 March that an additional 6 children and 3 adults on the same choir had tested positive and immediately taken for treatment.
We are grateful to the Ministry of Health and other health officials who are working hard to provide adequate care for our children and adults, and those affected at this time.
Thankfully, none of our children and adults on the team from Canada has shown any signs of the virus.
All Watoto children and mothers in our Watoto villages remain unexposed to the virus and are safe and healthy.
As we continue to pray for the full recovery of our affected choir members, and the health and safety of everyone in this season, we encourage everyone to uphold the Ministry of Health guidelines to stop the spread of the virus……”
