Nyegenyege Festival Will Go On As planned: Gen.Jeje Odong Rubbishes Fr.Lokodo’s Corridor Talk

The minister of internal affairs Gen.Jeje Odong has rubbished Fr.Simon lokodo’s earlier communication of blocking East Africa’s most anticipated biggest festival of the year-MTN Nyege Nyege slated to take place from this Thursday 6th to 9th Sept 2018 in Jinja.

Gen.Odong said that the event would no doubt take place but with ‘some’ conditions.

On Tuesday, Minister for ethics and integrity, Fr.Simon Lokodo announced that nyegenyege festival had been cancelled out of concerns relating to sexual immorality. (kumorisushi.com) He said if allowed to take place, Nyegenyege was likely to compromise national integrity.

In the letter, of which TheSpy Uganda got a copy, Fr.Lokodo asked the Minister for internal affairs to instruct IGP to urgently investigate the oncoming Nyege nyege Festival, scheduled to take place this weekend  in Jinja, saying he had reliable Information that  homosexuals were using the festival to recruit youth into the vice.

“Underlying this heavily advertised event, may compromise national integrity of our nation and put other citizens at the risk of deviat sexual immorality.

I urge you to instruct Inspector General of Police to stop the event. I also propose to have a meeting with you, IGP and Director CID,” Lokodo wrote.

However,in an interview with NTV this evening, Gen.Odong confirmed the event would take place but with some conditions. He also confirmed that he would have a meeting tomorrow (Wed) with all the stake holders of the event to agree on some ‘parameters’.

The four day musical and cultural entertainment event is organized by Talent Africa and sponsored by Telecom giant MTN Uganda.
