Sheema North constituency Member of Parliament
(MP) Naome Kibaaju Ntebekeine on Tuesday donated 12 tonnes of posho to the Sheema
district COVID-29 task force against Coronavirus to help vulnerable families in
her constituency.
While
delivering the relief food, Kibaaju asked the Task Force to select only 15 vulnerable
families from each village in Sheema North and give them five kilograms each
family.
She also
pledged 6 tonnes of posho to boda-boda riders, one tonne of maize seedling and over
1000 masks for elderly persons.
“Some
of My beloved people of Sheema North are suffering because of this lockdown. I
have been told that some especially those who used to depend on their daily
income businesses are now facing it rough. (Diazepam) But I requested chairmen LC ones to
choose the most 15 vulnerable families in their villages such that we can help
them for a mean time,” Hon Kibaaju said.
He added
that “my sons and brothers whose their business is boda-boda, I have already
started packing 6 tonnes of posho and probably by next week, they will have
received it too.
I sat down I
thought of how we can solve this problem of hunger in our families, therefore
I’m going to give people of Sheema North one tonne of maize seeds for planting
such that they can get what to harvest in the next season, ” Kibaaju said.
She later
urged the public to follow presidential directives and sensitise their friends
to do the same saying that the disease is more dangerous where she pledged to
deliver free masks to all people of Sheema North above 65 years as they are
still waiting for those that will be given out by the government as president
promised in his 14th address to the nation about corona virus.
Sheema
district RDC Frank Kyereere, who doubles as chairman Task Force, thanked
Kibaaju for her initiative of donating planting, seeds saying that it will save
people from depending on begging and crying for food from the government.
He also
praised Kibaaju whom he said that she once donated Shs2M , washing materials
and bars of soap at all trading Centres in Sheema North, plus returning the Shs20M
COVID-19 money.
