Kalangala: As a way of solving the big transport problem between Kalangala Islands with the rest parts of the country, the government of Uganda in 2019 embarked on the construction of Bukakata road, which will link the Island district to Masaka Highway, such that travelers no longer have to rely on the MV Kalangala ferry for traveling to and from Kalangala.
TheSpy Uganda has learnt this from the Chairman Masaka District, counsel Jude Mbabaali, who inspected the tarmacking of Bukakaka Road on Monday morning, in the company his Deputy, Hon. Councillor Janat Nakiseka and revealed that work is progressing on well.
During the inspection, Mbabaali observed that the work is very impressive and has started boosting development and changing the appearance of the adjoining townships and villages.
Mbabaali said that “After constructing Bukakata Road, the Contractor will also rehabilitate and improve Nyendo Kitovu Cathedral, St. Henry’s College and Kitovu Hospital Roads plus Muteesa 1 Royal University Road.”
He added that; “We shall continue to update you about the construction progress of this key road that will connect Masaka and Kalangala Districts.”
He also revealed that the contract for Nyendo Road has already been signed and the contractor will soon begin the construction works for the same.
