Kampala: Uganda has registered 23 new COVID-19 cases from samples tested on 06 June 2020, totaling 616 confirmed cases and 96 recoveries.
According to the statement tweeted by Ministry of health, among the new infections include 7 truck drivers who entered from Elegu, Mutukula and Mirama Hills Points of Entry.
However, 14 cases are from contacts and alerts who were traced from Kyotera, Adjumani, Tororo and Amuru Districts.
Ministry further noted that among the new infections is a security personnel who entered Uganda via Elegu boarder point and another is a frontline health worker.
Ministry added that 47 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 were not allowed to cross boarder rather handed them over to their countries of origin.
Meanwhile, Total samples tested at points of entry were 1,515, while 949 were samples from alerts and contacts.
However, total samples from health workers equate thirty (30) and total samples tested the whole day were two thousand four hundred ninety four (2,494) samples.
