Bad Black Spits More Venom After MoH, Precision Media Deny Hiring Her For COVID-19 Advert

By Andrew Irumba

Socialite Shanita Namuyimbwa aka Bad Black alias Masolo Queen, has  unleashed yet another bitter verbal attack agaisnt the Ministry of Health and Precision Media, after both officials issued statements denying ever hiring her to do any COVID-19 advert maintaining that the celebrated self confessed sex worker did it on voluntary basis to ‘help’ her co-workers at the borders not to die of Covid-19.

The saga started after Bad Black demanded Shs550m through her lawyers of Musangala And Co. Advocates  from the Ministry of Health, after alleging that they (MoH) used her to record an advert senzitising sex workers in Uganda on not to interact with truck drivers in a bid to avoid the spread of Coronavirus. Statement from the Ministry of Health about Bad Black’s allegations

Although the advert has since been aired on all radio and TV stations, published on all social and print media platforms, Bad Black claims that she has never even received a coin for the same, reason why she instructed her lawyers to sue the Ministry of Health and Precision Media, the company that shot the advert, for duping and using her to make an advert without paying her.

According to her lawyers, Bad Black was contracted by the Ministry of Health in April through an agent Ronex Kisembo of Precision Media, to record an advert sensitizing women especially those residing in border areas to avoid contact with truck drivers whom government had found to be the risky carriers of COVID-19.

Lawyers however indicate that it was an oral agreement to have their client (Bad Black) record the advert and later meet President Museveni with whom she would discuss the amount and terms of payment which was not done.

However, in reply to her allegations, the Ministry of Health on Sunday issued  statement informing the general  public that what Bad Black did was a charitable act she volunteered to do out of her own free will and as a responsible citizen, because they never signed any contract with her to do the advert.

“Bad Black, in particular consented to record a message that was appealing  to colleagues who were at risk of contracting COVID-19, and would thus spread it to other members of the community.

Indeed the Ministry of Health appreciates all entities and personalities who offered their valuable time and services voluntarily to support risk communication to various targeted audiences for purposes of preventing the spread of COVID-19.

The Ministry would like to reiterate that this was done on solely voluntary terms and no contractual or financial obligations  were attached to any personalities, including Bad Black…” the statement from the Ministry of Health reads in part.

It adds that “The Government of Uganda paid only for airtime on radio, television stations and  digital platforms to enable regular airing of messages which Precision Communications Consulting and other media agencies recorded  from patriotic Ugandans…..”
