The number of Coronavirus cases in Uganda is currently 859 after results from samples tested on 27 June 2020 confirmed 11 new COVID-19 infections.
Among the new cases are two (2) truck drivers: 1 from Mutukula and 1 from Busia Points of Entry.
They also include 9 Â cases that are among contacts and alerts: 8 from Amuru while 1 is from Nwoya.
The Ministry also confirmed 10 COVID-19 of foreign truck drivers who were handed over to their respective countries of origin for medical attention and Uganda currently has 794 COVID-19 Total Recoveries.
The results tested included 2,396 Samples from Points of Entry, 990 Samples from alerts and contacts, out of total 3,386 samples.
Global Coronavirus Cases Exceed 10 million
Meanwhile reports from the World Health Organisation (WHO) indicate that Global coronavirus cases exceeded 10 million on Sunday, according to a Reuters tally, marking a major milestone in the spread of the respiratory disease that has so far killed almost half a million people in seven months. More than five million have recovered.
Italy has registered the lowest number of daily deaths since March 1, a week before the country went into nationwide lockdown.
The US has reported at least 2.5 million cases of the new coronavirus, an increase of more than 44,000 cases from its previous count, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. The death toll there has already exceeded 125,000.
Swiss authorities say they’ve ordered 300 people into quarantine after a so-called “superspreader” outbreak of the new coronavirus at a Zurich nightclub.
Zurich officials said in a statement that a man who had been at the Flamingo Club a week ago tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, and that five people who were with him there were then tested and also were positive and reported to authorities on Friday.
