NRM In Hot Soup For Failure To Pay Multimillion Debt Of ‘M7 Mu Ghetto’ Launch

Kampala: The National resistance movement on 26th Oct, 2019 launched the ‘M7 Mu Ghetto’ project, an event that took place at NRM Youth Camp Headquarters in Kibuye, organized by the Straight Line Promotions Limited.

Despite the success of the event, the organizers have been moving in circles and disappointments for having not been paid all the expenses incurred in the event as promised by the NRM leadership.

According to the demand notice seen by TheSpy Uganda dated 29th Oct, 2019 copied to Gen Salim Saleh, Maj.General Elly Kayanja both top officials from Operation Wealth Creation, Straight line promotions limited (SLP) says after a successful event nearly a full year from then, they have never received their pay from state house as was promised, yet they obtained loans from different sources for publicity, mobilization and other logistics to enable a successful launch.

“We are requesting for your urgent intervention with all the concerned persons in State Houseuse to help us get back the funds that we invested in the whole event which we received from money lenders to be paid back with interest that has accumulated for this whole year by the service providers who were not paid” statement reads partially.

RE: REQUEST FOR YOUR URGENT INTERVENTION FOR THE UNPAID EXPENSES WE INCURRED IN THE M7 MU GHETTO LAUNCH

We greet you in the name of the almighty God and thank you for the towards poverty eradication through job creation to improve household income

INTRODUCTION: 

Straight line promotions limited (SLP) is fully registered as company limited with share capital certificate No: 80020002165586, purposely formed to create awareness ensure Promotion of talent amongst the youth, empower and facilitate mobilization of youth across Uganda through organizing Sacco and groups that will benefit the general public.

Straight line promotions limited (SLP) who were the official organizers of the NRM Youth Camp youth Headquarters launch that took place on the 26/10/2019 at Kibuye roundabout playground dubbed”‘M7 MU GHETTO that was set to intensify, facilitate mass mobilization to amongst the youth tor social, economic development, job creation and innovation, is seeking for your urgent and immediate intervention in the issue of funds that were meant for the success organization of the event which we have not yet never received from state house, yet we obtained loans from different sources for publicity, mobilization and other logistics to enable us have a successful launch.

We are requesting for your urgent intervention with all the concerned persons in state use to help us get back the funds that we invested in the whole event which we received from money lenders to be paid back with interest that has accumulated for this whole week by the service providers who were not paid.”

Later on, after Mr. Aijuuka Joel who dealt with the event organizers on behalf of Operation Wealth Creation failed to pay what was agreed, Straight Line Promotions decided to handle matters legally and wrote to them another demand notice with intention to sue through their lawyers of Arthur Aruth Legal & Co.Advocates a notice they didn’t respond to.

Demand notice reads:

Re: DEMAND NOTICE/CUM-NOTICE OF INTENTION TO SUE

We represent MR.AlJUKA JOEL on whose instructions we address you as hereunder

That, On the 2nd September 2019 our client advanced to you UG210,000,000 (Two Hundred ten million shillings only) which was guaranteed by Kawuki, Mayanja & Kibwika Susan.

That the said amount was supposed to be paid 30th November 2020 which was never paid.

Despite numerous demands and several reminders you have failed to respond to our Clients demands.

The import of this letter therefore is to demand for a payment of UGX. 210,000,000/= Hundred ten million shillings only) to our client, failure to do so within seven days shall leave us with no option but to seek court redress at your own cost. Expect no further demands.”

Despite the memorandum of understanding between the Straight Line Promotions Limited and Mr Aijuuka Joel on behalf of Operation Wealth Creation, which outlined “failure or relaxation by the parties to fulfill the agreement or any rights in this agreement shall operate as a waiver of such rights whether in contract or any law”, till today Straight Line have never been paid.
