Kampala: At least 132 judicial officers on the lower bench have been transferred in a move aimed at improving service delivery.
According to a list signed by the Chief Registrar, His worship Gadenya Paul Wolimbwa, three Registrars, 30 Deputy Registrars, 13 Assistant Registrars, 42 Chief Magistrates and 44 Grade One Magistrates are supposed to report to their new duty stations on February 12, 2017.
HW Gadenya explained that the reasons for the transfers included officers who had overstayed at their stations, improving service delivery and filling positions in the recently created magisterial areas.
The transfers have seen long-serving Registrar High Court, HW Isaac Muwata being transferred to Supreme Court while Mr. Tom Chemutai will be replacing him as Registrar High Court.
Former Public Relations Officer His worship Elias Omar Kisawuzi has also been transferred to the Executions and Bailiffs Division as Registrar.
Other transfers are; HW Isah Serunkuma who has been Deputy Registrar in the Chief Registrar’s office now moves to the Magistrates Affairs Registry as Ag. Registrar, HW Deo Nizeyimana moves from Research and Training to Executions and Bailiffs Division of the High Court.
HW Daniel Lubowa who had been the Private Legal Secretary to retired Deputy Chief Hon. Justice Steven Kavuma, has been posted to Arua as the Chief Magistrate.
HW Godfrey Kaweesa,President Uganda Judicial Officers Association, who has been Chief Magistrate Iganga is now posted to Mukono, HW James Eremye Mawanda retained as Chief Magistrate Buganda Road Court while HW Jameson Karemani is transferred to Nakawa Chief Magistrate Court. HW Justine Atukwasa who has been registrar High Court Land Division is now transferred to Mbarara High Court, and HW Elias Kakooza retained as Chief Magistrate Makindye.
James Mawanda Eremye is the handling the Redpepper and Frank Gashumba and co-accused’s case.
