Police in Kampala on Friday intercepted and foiled an armed robbery that was organised by the driver to Brig.Kamanyire the chief Finance officer of UPDF based in Mbuya!
According to sources at police R/A 215553 L/CPL Isoke Richard, driver to brigadier Kamanyire had two cars; a UPDF van Registration number H4DF 789 and a Land Cruiser TX with one star belonging to Brigadier Kamanyire.
Meanwhile, Police later found out that the thugs had used a fake Number plate H4DF 1796 on the army car. Police found out later that the true number plate for the vehicle is H4DF 1665.
Police intercepted them at Madhvani building opposite spear house Plot 14A Jinja Road owned by mitsumi.
According to sources, the motive of the robbery was to steal HP Computers worth  3750 dollars from some business men whom they put on gun point demanding URA certificate.
Police managed to arrest the driver with one gun AK47 and 25 rounds of ammunition. Other five suspects are still at large.
The suspect is currently detained at central police station vide CPS CRB 1559/2018.
