Minister Otafiire Tips KIU Graduates

Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs has cautioned new Kampala International University (KIU) graduates against reckless living if they are to live successful adult lives.

While gracing the 19th KIU graduation as the guest of honor, Otafiire further asked the graduates to look out for any possible employment opportunity and take advantage

“You are still young and there are many opportunities. Life can be sweet if well lived. Avoid recklessness and live longer,” he said.

Over 3718 students graduated on Saturday at the KIU main campus, Kampala in different programs.

57% of the graduates were male while 43% were female. Out of these, 36 students excelled with first class degrees.

According to the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, 16% of the students that were supposed to graduate did not graduate because they had not cleared tuition.

In his remarks, he asked government and other sponsors to always consider sponsoring bright and willing students who are not financially well by giving them scholarships so that they do not suffer such circumstances

He further asked the new graduates to use the knowledge, skills and positive attitude got from the University to thrive and be successful in the competitive working world

“As you go out there, allow your success to be a source of inspiration for you and others around you. However, beware of the challenges that are out there and face them courageously,” he said.

In his written message that was read out in his absence, the appropriator of the University Al-Hajji Hassan Bassajjabalaba who is also the chairman Board of trustees KIU urged the graduates to always do their best in whatever they do if they are to out-compete the many graduates that are out there

“The only character that will differential you from a pool of all those that are jobless will be excellence. Always do your best in whatever you do,” he stated.
