Kyandodo East Member of Parliament Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has said the current wave of demand for change in the country is unstoppable and urged Ugandans to play their part and ensure its fruition.
Bobi Wine emphasized that the demand for change, which has been building for years, has now extended across the country and that it is incumbent upon Ugandans to utilise it and dislodge the ruling National Resistance Movement party from power.
The MP made the remarks while addressing a group of supporters from Nakaseke District who visited him at his home in Magere, Wakiso District on Tuesday. The group was led by Esther Nakawooya who intends to contest for woman Member of Parliament seat come 2021.
Bobi Wine, whose People Power pressure group has taken the country by storm, urged Ugandans to support and vote for young leaders as part of the process of causing change.
President Museveni has for so far spent 32 years in power but Bobi Wine expressed optimism that once they mobilize, connect and structure themselves well in addition to preparing the public, especially the youth to acquire the National Identity Cards, by 2021, they will have got the numbers to win the elections.
He applauded Nakawooya for taking a bold stand to join the struggle, arguing that journalists are well informed and are so influential to the society.
On her part, Nakawooya said her team embraced Bobi Wine’s people power message and they are spreading it tirelessly since the conditions Ugandans and Nakaseke people are in are unpleasant.
The People Power wave has this year defined Uganda’s politics. With their trademark red attire, the pressure group with its slogan has propelled several candidates in the parliamentary elections to victory. The wave started from Bugiri where Asuman Basalirwa won, then moved to Jinja East where Paul Mwiru won comfortably. They then moved to Arua Municipality where the election ended in chaos and the brutal arrest of Bobi Wine, other MPs and people power supporters.
