Uganda Martyrs High School stunned record Champions Kawempe Muslim on Tuesday to take advantage in group 1 of the 2020/21 FUFA Women Super League.
Skipper and defender Gloria Namugerwa struck home the lone goal of the game midway through the first half.
The decisive moment came in the 23rd minute when Spencer Nakacwa was fouled just outside the area by Asia Nakibuuka.
Namugerwa’s free-kick from about 20 yards beat goalkeeper Juliet Adeke who literally remained glued to the goal line.
Catherine Nagadya nearly doubles the lead a minute later with her ferocious strike inside the area parried away by Adeke.
Kawempe Muslim were largely on the back foot in the game and a shadow of what they had produced in the first game against Kampala Queens.
The frontline of Juliet Nalukenge, Margaret Kunihira and Hadijja Nnadago lacked the cutting edge with the Uganda Martyrs backline defending relentlessly.
The Lubaga based outfit nearly got the second goal towards the end when Spencer Nakacwa went through on goal but chose to lay up Latifa Nakasi who missed.
Uganda Martyrs now lead group 1 with six points in two games.
Elsewhere, Debutants Tooro Queens punished wounded Makerere University WFC in a 1-0 Victory.
The heroic goal to Victory came in the first minute of the added time after a goalless of 90 minutes but Ruth Nyakato made the difference.
