Uganda Premier League to resume February 10

After the Cranes team dropping out of the CHAN tournament with one point from three games played, the players’ focus now shifts to the Azam Uganda Premier League.

The Cranes players returned from another underwhelming CHAN tournament on Tuesday to join their clubs ahead of the league, whose second round has been scheduled to kick off in a fortnight’s time, on February 10.

The league broke off for the first half break on December 23 to allow Uganda Cranes prepare for the Africa Nations Championship but has since been eliminated.

The Uganda premier league CEO Bernard Bainamani is quoted on the UPL website saying, “the second round of the league resumes on February 10, next Saturday.”

Record champions SC Villa lead the standings with 32 points followed closely by reigning champions KCCA who are in the second position with 29 points from the 15 games played and Vipers in second position. Record champions SC Vila Jogoo

Most teams have used the break to reinforce their squads with KCCA and Express FC the busiest in recruitment so far.

The Kasasiro boys (KCCA) have already confirmed six new signings while there is an expected overhaul at Wankulukuku as the club fights the relegation monster with 11 points.

The transfer window is still open for clubs to strengthen their squads and will end on January 31. For the meantime, clubs will be involved in friendly matches to keep themselves in shape for the upcoming fixtures.
