Luwero: Minister of State in the office of the prime minister in charge of Luwero Triangle-Rwenzori region last week opened her tactical office in Luwero District and vowed to change the livelihoods of the war veterans who sacrificed their all to bring the ruling Government into power.
The tactical office, located just next to the District Headquarters will work as a coordination centre in the region and will be headed by Maj.Kigozi Kaweesa as its coordinator, TheSpy Uganda has learnt.
While commissioning it last week, Minister Kaboyo urged the local leadership with in the area and the residents to use it to develop the area for the greater good of all the people. She said people can only feel the presence of their 35+ old Government in their area through service delivery that her office will be coordinating.
“Let’s use this good office to coordinate Government programmes and services. People can only feel Government through service delivery and that’s the job my boss [President Museveni] has sent me to do. So let’s use it to elevate our people who sacrificed for over five years supporting our guerrilla struggle, because indeed as rightly put, this is our ‘Mecca’,” added Kaboyo.
After the commission, the minister also visited and talked to the leadership of civilian veterans of the District at their Hydrofarm block yard, located in Bamunanika, one of the historical sites of the NRM liberation struggle, where she again urged them to continue supporting Government programmes specially designed to elevate their standards of living.
The Minister also eyes to support communities in the 39 districts to enhance their household incomes by promoting/supporting activities that increase agriculture production & productivity; value addition, processing and marketing; and small and medium scale enterprises.
Alice Kaboyo who was among the Museveni’s first appointed team for the 2021-2026 term, was approved as Minister of State for Luwero Triangle-Rwenzori by parliament on July 8th, 2021.
She started her mandate by first commissioning her tactical office in the region and creating grassroot structures to ease communication between her office and the intended beneficiaries.
