Police have transferred former Buyende District Police Commander ASP Muhammad Kirumira to Nalufenya Police Detention center.
Kirumira was moved last night from the Railway Police Post where he was remanded on Thursday afternoon by the Police Tribunal sitting at the Police Headquarters in Naguru.
The transfer was confirmed by Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima though he didn’t divulge into details.
When asked as to why Kirumira had to be moved to Nalufenya, Emilian said “Police can move a suspect to wherever they want”.
The news of the transfer of ASP Kirumira was first broken by his wife Mariam Kirumira, who had gone to the Police Post along Jinja Road to check on him but was told by in-charge that her husband was transferred at night to Nalufenya.
Meanwhile, Mariam herself reported on her social media that she was attacked by unknown assailants who trailed her as she headed to the Police post and threatened to terminate her pregnancy.
Mrs Kirumira says she was attacked by a group of thugs who tried to beat her and threatened to terminate her pregnancy.
She quoted them as shouting, “Kuluno tubalina, n’ako akabuto tuyinza okakuba nekavaamu tuwone bu Kirumira obulala okutulumya omutwe”.
