Kampala: Rajiv Ruparelia has further inked his plans to build a multi-billion sports stadium in Kololo laughing at the Kololo school administration that is intending to fail the project.

The contested land is along Lugogo Bypass, close to Kampala Parents School. It also happens to be between Kololo Secondary School and Premier Academy, and it is jointly used by the two entities as a football playground.

In an NBS TV interview, Rajiv Ruparelia thus; “It is not Kololo SS land. The land belongs to Government of Uganda but Government has leased it to us [Ruparelia Group) to put up a multibilion state-of-the-art sports Arena, which by the way, will also benefit Kololo SS. Because they will continue accessing it”

He adds that Kololo SS failed to develop this land since 1956 and when the government leased it to Premier Academy [Ruparelia Group], the school started lamenting how they had plans to develop it.

“They tell us they have the ability to develop it. They had all the time in the world to develop it, but they didn’t. (Xanax) It shocks me that they want to develop it at a time when we also want to develop it,” notes Rajiv.

Rajiv says this stadium will be with a football pitch, basketball court, several swimming pools and a gym on global standards which he says is aimed at aiding sporting talents in Kampala which lack sports facilities.

He also says the facility will offer employment opportunities to people and also a source of government revenue through tax collection, but has a challenge with Kololo Secondary School which is fighting for the playground.
