ICT and National guidance minister who is also MP Kibale County in Kawmenge District is ove the moon for delivering his over 35 year old dream.
Tumwebaze, whose great ideas the country would have missed had it not been Bisozi and Kaberebere Primary Schools that shaped his child hood Education this week handed over a finished 2 class room block and office administration block to the school management of Kaberebere primary School located in Kaberebere Parish, Nkoma Sub-county, Kamwenge District.
The project that cost over Shs55m which the minister confessed having partly collected from friends finally came to fruition on Tuesday.
This school is historical to the minister because that’s where he started his education journey way back in 1980s’. Well, this reporter caught up with the minister himself via whatsApp to chat this up and got this below..…
“The year was 1985 and i was in Primary three (P.3) at Bisozi (or Bishozi in Runyankore) Primary School. During the Second term holidays of that year, Part of the #NRA forces as they advanced to Fort Portal fell into an ambush of the #GOV’T forces then at our school along Kyenjojo-Kahunge-Fort Portal road. The fighting lasted for about one hour and both sides registered casualties.
The #GOV’T forces abducted the P.7 candidates who were at the school for their holiday coaching together with our Reverend who was found at School. They forced them to carry their loot mainly food and other luggage up to Mpanga market in fort Portal on foot. They released the children and walked back home after 2 days. The parents and management of Bisozi Primary school decided to temporarily close the school for a year.
My Parents relocated me to our neighbouring church school called Kaberebere Primary school which had only four classes. I studied the whole of my form 4 (Primary four) from there, taught by only one teacher called Darico Kimara. There were no other teachers and so each class teacher would be all-round and cover all subjects. Our main school (Bisozi) later re-opened at the end of 1986. I was able to rejoin Bisozi Primary School in 1987 for my Primary five. If Kaberebere church school hadn’t been there perhaps I would have missed a class or dropped out of school all together. I thank God for that.
Two years ago, I pledged to build a two classroom block and an office for the school in memory of that Past. With the support of friends who supported my fundraising drive, I have finally delivered on my pledge and TODAY, I commissioned the two classroom block.
