Kampala, Uganda: A total of 144 lawyers have been called to the bar after enrolling as high court advocates. Among the noticeable prominent figures was singer and songwriter Sylver Kyagulanyi .
After four years at University plus nine months at the Law Development Centre, Kyagulanyi and others managed to sail through successfully. Currently Kyagulanyi is also a certified high court advocate who can represent any client. This sweet voiced songwriter had halted his music career a bit to concentrate on his law course until he completed it.
Chief Justice Bart Katureebe congratulated the new advocates but urged them to be professional in fighting for equal rights of all the Ugandans. He also cautioned them against corrupt tendencies like taking clients’ money and they not providing legal services which normally tarnishes the image of judiciary.
